Overview:
Among our Fes private and group trips , we offer a 2 days tour to discover the charming historical places of Meknes. Also, visit the gorgeous city of Chefchaouen. We have customized and Itinerary for the 2 days tour from Fes to Chefchaouen according to some past customer’s requests. To start with, we will pick you up from tour accommodation or at any meeting point in Fes.
We will begin by visiting the historical city of Meknes. Firstly, we will drive for less than 2 hours and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a place that attracted thousands of tourists to come to discover its history. Next, the Bab Al Mansour, the main gate to Meknes’ Medina and Imperial city. Subsequently, take a walk and discover the souks for souvenirs purposes. Then, visit the Madrasa Bou Inania. Also, Herri Es-Souani, a place where more than 12,000 horses were stabled. It is Also here they kept wheat grain. Further, the mysterious Prison of Kara, where a lot of people went and didn’t get back.
After visiting the historical city of Meknes, we will ahead to visit the iconic Chefchaouen or Chaouen. At first, we will pick you up from the traditional hotel to visit the Grand Mosque. It is the oldest one in this city and dates to the earliest period of the city after its foundation by Moulay ‘Ali ibn Rashid al-Alami. After that, take a walk around the Uta-El-Hammam, Ras El-Ma. At final, you will hike the Rif mountains, and end up with staying at the gorgeous Akchour.
Eventually, when the visit is over, we will get back to Fes where the 2 days tour from Fes to Chefchaouen ends.
Day 1: From Fes to visit Meknes then to Chefchaouen:
On the first day of our 2 days tour from Fes to Chefchaouen, we will visit Meknes from Fes. After driving for less than 1 hour, we will reach this city to visit the Roman ruins. In the past, Volubilis was considered the administrative center of the kingdom of Mauretania. This city can be seen from the Moulay Idriss Zerhoune, and from all the higher points of the valley. Also, this old preserved site is situated between the cultural Fes and Meknes in a fertile surrounded by wheat.
After visiting it with a local guide, we will continue to Bab El Mansour. One of the best architectural gates of Morocco. It is the main well-preserved port to the old Medina of Meknes. Subsequently, ascertain the Heri-Es Souani, one of Moulay Ismail’s finest architectural projects. When visiting it, we will make sure we see the wheat grain-keeping area. Not to mention, it is not free to enter as you have to pay a fee to discover the area’s water engineering.
As a final thing, we will get to see the prison of Karra. An old wide underground prison built in the 18th century. Its name refers to a Portuguese prisoner.
Eventually, we will ahead to Chefchaouen to spend the night at a local Riad/Hotel.
Day 2: Visiting Chefchaouen and back to Fes:
After breakfast at the beautiful local Riad, we will pick you up to start the tour around Chefchaouen and Akchour. Firstly, we will ahead to see the Grand Mosque, famous as the oldest in this lovely city. It is situated at the central Place Outa Hammam, near the city’s historic kasbah. Secondly, you will have some time to hike the Rif mountains and admire the beautiful green lands. Next, get back to take a walk and discover the Plaza Uta El Hammam, the largest square in the city.
At final, we will drive for about 40mins only to visit the charming Akchour, a place where you can hike the Rif mountains, swim, and more.
At the end of the day, get back to Fes where our 2 days from Fes to Chefchaouen ends.
