Overview:
You will learn about the most popular tourist destinations and attractions in Morocco on this 9-day travel itinerary. The journey begins in Tangier. You can explore the historic medina, the American Legation, and Hercules Cave there. Chefchaouen, known as the blue jewel of Morocco, will be the second city we explore. After that, we’ll take you to Fes, where you can explore its cultural attractions like tanneries, Madrassa “schools,” and Al Quaraouiyine, the world’s oldest still-operating university. Not to add, we will tour one of the King’s 12 residences and the Jnan Sbil garden.
The Sahara desert of Merzouga will be our destination on the sixth day as we traverse the Atlas Mountains. Our Morocco tours’ high point, where you may go on a camel ride and spend the night in a tent like a Berber. You can also go there to see the nomad family who resides in a homemade tent. Additionally, it is there that we will see the Gnaoua, Hassi Labied’s tiny oasis, and Srij Lake.
We will travel to the Todgha and Dades Gorges Grand Canyons on the seventh day. Following that, we’ll stop by the city cinema in Ouarzazate and an Atlas Studio. Then, we’ll go to Ait Benhaddou, a walled Berber citadel that is one of Morocco’s Kasbahs. After that, we will once more cross the Atlas Mountains to arrive at Marrakech, the red city. There are numerous stunning locations that draw 3 million tourists yearly. Marrakech is therefore a tourist destination. The Koutoubia mosque, the Jemaa El Fna Square, and various more sights will be on our itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival at Tangier:
We will pick you up from Ibn Battuta Airport or one of the ports to begin our nine-day trip in Morocco. We’ll then drive you to your lodging so you can unwind. We might take you on a stroll through the historic medina, depending on when you arrive.
Day 2: Tangier to Chefchaouen:
On this day, we will tour Tangier’s sights before traveling to Chefchaouen to spend the night. First, we’ll take a tour of the America Legation, the US government’s first outpost abroad, and then take a stroll through the historic medina. Then, we’ll go to Cape Spartel to see the enigmatic Hercules Cave. After that, we will travel by car to Chefchaouen, known as Morocco’s “blue gem.” We’ll ascend the Spanish church there to observe Chefchaouen from the top and enjoy the sunset. We’ll transport you to your lodging later.
Day 3: Chefchaouen to Fes:
We will travel to Chefchaouen on the third day of our nine-day itinerary in Morocco, and we will spend the night in Fes. So, we’ll stroll around Chefchaouen to appreciate its stunning blue walls. The first structure in Chefchaouen, the Kasbah Museum, is where we will go to learn more about the city’s past. After that, we’ll go to the Ras El Ma waterfalls before making our way to the Wetat Lhmam square, where we can unwind with a cup of tea while taking in some local entertainment. We will drive to Fes in the afternoon, where we will drop you off to spend the night at a typical Riad “hotel.”
Day 4: Fes city tour:
We will travel to the cultural Fes, the country’s first capital and one of the imperial cities, on this day. There is a lot to see and do here. We will first go to Bab Boujloud, the principal gate of the 11th century in Fes El Bali, the older section. In order to see the Madrassas of Bou Inania and Attarine, we will then enter the winding streets. Before visiting the Tannery of Chouara, one of the three historically significant tanneries in Fes, we will also visit Al-Karaouiyne, the oldest university in the entire world. We will then go to the King’s palace, which has the seventh golden gate. Then, for a comprehensive perspective of the entire city, we’ll move on to the Borj Nord. After that, we’ll take a stroll in the Garden of Sbil. You are welcome to have a late afternoon massage or a Hamam, or traditional hot sauna.
Day 5: Fes to Merzouga, the Sahara desert:
We will depart from Fes and go to Merzouga in the Sahara. We will stop at numerous locations en route. We will start by traveling to Ifrane, a tiny Swiss town in Morocco. We’ll stop here for a little moment at the statue of the Atlas Lion, which a German prisoner created to symbolize the nearby Atlas Forest’s extinct lion. Then, as we travel to the forest of cedar trees in Azrou, we’ll stop once again to see the Barbary Macaque monkeys, sometimes known as magots or apes.
After that, depending on time, we may stop for lunch while traveling through Midelt, the city of the apples. After that, we’ll drive across the Talghomt Pass and eventually arrive to the Errachidia Dam, which provides water to the Sahara Desert. The Ziz valley, which has many date palm trees, is then where we will halt once more. Actually, Erfoud hosts an international festival dedicated to dates every October. It is one of the main sources of dates in Morocco. We can stop briefly at Arfoud if you’d like to sample some Magdol dates before we continue. Not to mention, the mineral fossils of Erfoud are well known. As a result, we might visit one of the museums. When we get reach Merzouga, we’ll drive you there to unwind in one of its hotels.
Day 6:Merzouga discovery tour:
The discovery tour in the Merzouga desert, the centerpiece of our Morocco tours, is included in our itinerary for 9 days in Morocco. Therefore, on this day, our driver will take you to see the Morocco National 4X4 Auto Museum, an ancient automobile museum owned by a Qatari. The Gnaoua people live in the little town of Khamlia, which is around 6 kilometres from Merzouga. You can listen to the incredible music they play there on castanets and drums.
After that, we’ll drive you to one of the historic MINES in Mifis so you can see where the French obtained their salt and kohl during their colonial rule. Then, before you have the same experience later that night, we will take you to meet one of the nomadic Berber families who live in tents. After that, we’ll drive to Srij Lake to see the flamingo migration birds and camels that go there to be herded.
Depending on the time, we could travel to Tafilalet, a commercial hub where the locals go shopping on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, from Rissani. There, we want you to taste Madfouna, an Arabic-Berber pita. We’ll also take you to the donkey parking lot, where people either buy, sell, or exchange the animals.
We’ll go to the tiny oasis of Hassi Labied in the afternoon, where you can witness how they use tunnels to get water from wells to irrigate their crops. Our crew of camel professionals will be waiting for you close to the dunes when we finally take you on the camel ride. Then, depending on the time, they will take you across the Erg Chebbi dunes to the camp, where you can pause to see the sunset. There will be overnight.
Day 7: Merzouga to Dades Gorges:
After a delightful night in the tents, you can ride the camels back to the village where our driver will be waiting for you. The group will then continue on to Boumaln Dades while passing past the Todgha Gorges’ magnificent gorges. Beforehand, we’ll lead you by an antiquated irrigation system where wells hydrate the Fazna tiny oasis. We will then go to those canyons, which are around 15 kilometers from Tinghir.
There, we will make a stop for about an hour walking, you will admire the height of 300 meters and the river passing through. After that, we will drive to Dades Gorges, we will make two stops. First, we will stop at the monkey toes, mountains because of the wind, and the rain shaped like the toes or the fingers of a monkey. Second, we will drive to the curves of Tissdrine, dangerous curves where Cadillac made an advertisement for its car. Overnight will be in a hotel or Riad in the canyons.
Day 8: Dades gorges to Marrakech:
As we continue our nine-day trip through Morocco, we will make our way to Marrakech. We will stop at a lot of beautiful places en route there, as mentioned earlier. First, we’ll go from Dades to the rose valley, where we can pause if you’d want to purchase some rose-related items. Then, we’ll take a car to Ouarzazate, a city known for its cinema. We will visit the Oscar Atlas Studio there to view the films that were shot in the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and the Taourirt Kasbah.
After that, we’ll take a journey to the High Atlas Mountains’ southernmost fortified settlement, the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Before traveling to Europe, the commercial Touareg caravans used to conduct business there. It’s also where a lot of well-known movies were produced. For instance, they contributed to Lawrence of Arabia and the British-American film The Gladiator.
We will go over the Atlas Mountains in the late afternoon and stop at a height of 2260 meters. If you want to purchase some argan oil, we will then make a visit at the cooperative. When we eventually reach Marrakech, we will transport you to your lodging.
Day 9: Marrakech city tour:
The red city of Marrakech will be the last place we visit on our 9-day tour of Morocco. Therefore, we will take you to see the top attractions that made Marrakech the most admired tourist destination in the morning. The greatest mosque in Marrakech, the Koutoubia, will be your first stop.
The French artist Majorelle’s garden will be our next stop. We’ll then go to the Menara garden and the Bahia Palace. After that, we’ll go to Jemaa El Fna Square, where people perform many different “street performances,” including snake charmers and halka makers. There are other places to see, and if we have time, we might go to the king’s palace.
